News from Lagos, Fire destroys Ketu Plank Market

Shops and valuable goods were on Sunday damaged when fire gutted the Ketu Plank Market, Lagos State on Sunday. 

 The Lagos State Emergency Management confirmed the incident, adding that no life was lost. 

 The Director-General of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the cause of the fire incident could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report. 

 He said, “Emergency responders comprising of LASEMA Response Team and the Lagos State Fire Service have curtailed the raging inferno at Ketu Plank Market on Demurin Street, Ketu, Lagos.

There is tension in Enugu State on Monday, after over 38 criminals reportedly escaped from police custody. 

The information gathered from PUNCH showed that the inmates were remanded in the custody of the State Police Command for various offences.

US ELECTION UPDATE: POMPEO PROMISES 'SMOOTH TRANSITION TO TRUMP'S SECOND TERM "

 Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday promised the world a “smooth transition” after US elections but refused to recognize President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, saying Donald Trump will remain in power.

.“There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration,” Pompeo said in an at times testy news conference when asked about contacts with the Biden team. 

NECO exams resumes from Monday November 9, 2020, to Saturday, November 28 2020. 


The National Examinations Council has announced the resumption of the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination in all states and the Federal Capital Territory, effective Monday, November 9 2020. 

NECO Head of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, made the announcement in a statement issued on Monday evening, titled, ‘Resumption of the 2020 SSCE (Internal)’.

Previous Administration caused Continuous strike by the ASUU, Adamu

The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, has blamed a previous administration for the continuous strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

Although Adamu was not specific on which administration he was referring to, he said that that government shouldn’t have entered into an agreement with ASUU to pay them N1.3trilion when it knew it couldn’t pay it.

2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination would be released on Monday, November 2, 2020




This is to inform candidates that sat West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2020 that the results of that exam will be released by @waecnigeria tomorrow, Monday, November 2, 2020 by 10:30am.”


Therefore candidates that sat for the exam are advised to begin to check their results from 10:30am, Monday, 2 November  2, 2020.
