Google will now be accepting payments in naira on the Play Store
Google and Verve have teamed up to enhance the convenience of digital transactions on the Google Play Store for Nigerians. As of Wednesday, Nigerians can use their Verve cards to make purchases on the Google Play Store.
In this new partnership, Google will handle Verve transactions within Nigeria and process them in the local currency, naira. The transactions will be treated as local transactions by the country's banking institutions.
Head of Retail and Payment Partnerships at Google Play, Anthea Crawford, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, "We are delighted to collaborate with Verve, which expands Google Play access for more Nigerians. The introduction of local payments with Verve cards is a major milestone, providing more Nigerians with the opportunity to participate in the app economy and access the apps they require."
Vincent Ogbunude, Managing Director of Verve International, added, "The integration with Google Play is a significant step towards realizing Verve's vision of promoting financial inclusion. We are thrilled to bring digital content and services closer to Verve cardholders, thereby bridging the digital divide."
UNILAG Post-UTME Registration 2023
The online registration period for the Post-UTME Screening Exercise for admission into all courses/programs at the University of Lagos for the 2023/2024 Academic Year will start on Monday, July 10th and end on Friday, July 28th, 2023.
To be eligible for the screening, candidates must have chosen the University of Lagos as their first choice in the 2023/2024 UTME and achieved a score of 200 or higher. Additionally, candidates must have obtained five (5) credit passes in relevant O/level subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, all in one sitting.
Please note that only candidates who have successfully uploaded their O/Level results on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) by or before August 13th, 2023 will be taken into consideration for admission.
Candidates who will not have reached the age of sixteen (16) by October 31st, 2023, are ineligible and should refrain from applying.
Students who have been expelled from the University are not eligible for fresh admission. Additionally, it is important to be aware that there is a screening fee of ₦2,000 applicable to the post UTME form.
JAMB 2023 Cut-off marks announced
The announcement has been made regarding the JAMB cut-off marks for the 2023/2024 admissions. This information was disclosed during the 2023 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria, which took place on June 24th, 2023, at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja.
The minimum scores for securing admission into universities in Nigeria have been set at 140 by JAMB. Similarly, the minimum cut-off marks for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education have also been fixed at 100 each. However, it is important to note that institutions have the freedom to establish their own individual cut-off marks. Nonetheless, no institution will be permitted to admit any candidate who scores below the specified benchmark.
JAMB has set the fee for Post-UTME screening at N2,000. According to JAMB, any institution that wishes to conduct screening can do so, but the fee for the screening should not exceed N2,000.
Following the release of the cut-off marks, public tertiary institutions will commence the announcement of their Post-UTME sales forms and screening dates. Candidates should remain vigilant and watch out for these announcements.
