NECO releases 2023 SSCE Timetable


The official timetable for the 2023 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) has been released by the National Examination Council (NECO). The examination is set to take place from Monday, July 3rd to Friday, August 11th, 2023.

2018 UTME apllication Form in progress

 
In case if you are not aware, The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has fixed a date for the commencement of the sale of the 2018 application forms.

The board said the sale and registration for all candidates including those from foreign countries will hold from December 6 to  February 6, 2018., meaning it is still on.

2014|2015 Jamb result released


–The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Thrusday, said only 47 candidates scored 250 and above in the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) and Dual Based Test (DBT) modes of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted across the country last Saturday.

 The Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB,Prof. Dibu Ojerinde,  stated this in Abuja, while announcing the release of the 2014 UTME results. He said only 24 candidates scored 250 and above in the PPT while 23 candidates scored 250 and above in the DBT.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde said  on Thursday that  paper-pencil test (PPT) and computer-based test (CBT) would hold on April 12 and  May 17,2014, respectively across
2,000 centres.

Ojerinde stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Minister of Education, Professor  Ruqayyatu Rufa’i, yesterday said only 520,000, of the 1,735,720, candidates who sat for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are  likely to gain admission into tertiary institutions in the country. This is because the entire universities in the country can only accommodate 520,000, candidates, meaning that the remaining 1.2million candidates may have to shelve their desire for higher education till further notice.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has released the results of the 2012 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, with only three candidates scoring above 300.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the results of 27,266 candidates across eight states were withheld for various reasons.

This was stated by JAMB Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, at a news conference in Abuja.

A total of 1,503,931 candidates were registered for the 2012 UTME, which held across the country on March 24, making it the one with the highest number of registered candidates since the existence of JAMB.

Contrary to earlier fears that the Boko Haram sect would disrupt the exam in some Northern states, Ojerinde, said the State Security Service and other security agencies had been engaged to deal with any security threat. The exam proceeded on the set date without any security problem.

At the news conference, Ojerinde, the JAMB Registrar, listed Abia, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Imo, Lagos, Nasarawa and Rivers as the affected states, due to malpractice such as extortion of money by some examination officials.

“In 2012 UTME, we had some disturbing news of extortion of money from innocent candidates by greedy proprietors and supervisors all these persons will be brought to book,” he said, adding that the outcome of investigation would determine if more results would be released..

Ojerinde said 72, 243 scored 250 and above while 336,330 scored below 170. He said 374,920 candidates scored between 170 and above, 601,151 candidates scored between 200 and 249 while 901 scored between 270 and 299.

“In 2010, 96,451 results were recorded invalid, while in 2011, the figure reduced drastically to 28,069, due to sensitisation on 2011 UTME.

“For the 2012 UTME, the number was drastically reduced to 5,161; the board will continue to work to ensure that the incidence of incomplete and invalid results is totally wiped out,” he stated.

Ojerinde said that Imo had the highest number of applicants with 123,865 candidates; Delta came second with 88,876 candidates while Anambra placed third with 84,204 candidates.

Conversely, FCT recorded the lowest number with 3,380 candidates, Sokoto placed next with 5, 664 candidates while 5,713 candidates sat from Zamfara.

He said the University of Lagos recorded the highest applicants with 83,865 candidates; Nnamdi Azikiwe University came second with 82,148 candidates while University of Benin came third with 80,048 candidates.

He said arrangement had been made for candidates to check their results online using JAMB web site, www.myjambonline.com, and using the scratch card used earlier for registration.

ABUJA – The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed that a total of 2, 892 candidates scored 300 marks and above in its 2011 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, conducted nationwide last week Saturday.

Besides, a total of 1,493,604 candidates who sat for the UTME examination are seeking for admission into the 500, 000 available spaces in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Given the breakdown of candidates’ performance, today in Abuja, the Registrar of JAMB, Professor ‘Dibu Ojerinde said, “while 842, 851 candidates scored below 200 marks, 495,426 candidates scored between 200-249 and 67,732 scored between 250-269 as well as 31, 444 others, who scored between 270-299 marks.” Out of this, the JAMB according him, is currently investigating the results of 7, 504 candidates, from some centres which he said are suspicious, and so the results must undergo further screening because of the unusual performances recorded by candidates from those centre.

He stated further that a total of 15, 160, representing 1.014 % of candidates, who participated in the examination were involved in exam malpractices.

On the issue of invalid and incomplete results that characterized the conducted of the exercise last year, Prof. Ojerinde announced a remarkable reduction from 82,000 cases in 2010 to 28, 069 in this 2011 exercise. According to him, “this figure, 28,069, although is a remarkable reduction in the previous one. It still remains high. In the years ahead, we will further bring down the figure drastically. Our target is to totally eliminate this phenomenon by drumming it to our examiners to do checks on candidates during the examinations.”

Further analysis of the application by gender showed that 55.78% applicants are males while 44.22% candidates are females. These figures showed that 660,522 candidates are females while 833,082 are males. While a total of 200 visually impaired candidates sat for the exams, 197 prisoners from mainly Kaduna State and Ikoyi Prison in Lagos State sat for the 2011 UTME exams. Imo State has highest number of applicants in the exams as the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, got the least applicant. Prof Ojerinde asked candidates who sat for the examination to check their results on-line using JAMB scratch cards. Ojerinde who said the results were posted on-line by 12.00 pm (today)Friday, said, the results are on the internet, as I am speaking with you. He advised that, “candidates do not need to buy any scratch card, but can utilize the scratch card earlier used during registration for the exam.
