Nigerian troops have killed over 100 terrorists in a fierce battle when the Boko Haram insurgents launched a massive attack on Konduga town, about 35 kilometres from Maiduguri, Borno State, on Friday in a fight that lasted about three hours.

A statement signed on behalf of the director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Olajide Olaleye, also disclosed that the troops recovered three Hilux and one Buffalo vehicles with mounted anti-aircraft guns, three general purpose machine guns, over 30 AK-47 rifles and two global positioning systems.
“At about 5.30am Friday, Boko Haram terrorists launched a massive attack on Konduga town, about 35 kilometres from Maiduguri.
“After about three hours of fierce fighting, Nigerian troops routed the Boko Haram fighting force of over a hundred terrorists.
“Four Nigerian soldiers were wounded in action. The entire area is still being combed for terrorists who may have escaped with bullet wounds. Morale of troops remains very high,” the statement said.
The Defence Headquarters on Thursday denied the allegation that Boko Haram terrorists had surrounded Maiduguri, in readiness for a take over of the city
