Google will now be accepting payments in naira on the Play Store

Google and Verve have teamed up to enhance the convenience of digital transactions on the Google Play Store for Nigerians. As of Wednesday, Nigerians can use their Verve cards to make purchases on the Google Play Store.

In this new partnership, Google will handle Verve transactions within Nigeria and process them in the local currency, naira. The transactions will be treated as local transactions by the country's banking institutions.

Head of Retail and Payment Partnerships at Google Play, Anthea Crawford, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, "We are delighted to collaborate with Verve, which expands Google Play access for more Nigerians. The introduction of local payments with Verve cards is a major milestone, providing more Nigerians with the opportunity to participate in the app economy and access the apps they require."

Vincent Ogbunude, Managing Director of Verve International, added, "The integration with Google Play is a significant step towards realizing Verve's vision of promoting financial inclusion. We are thrilled to bring digital content and services closer to Verve cardholders, thereby bridging the digital divide."

JAMB 2023 Cut-off marks announced

The announcement has been made regarding the JAMB cut-off marks for the 2023/2024 admissions. This information was disclosed during the 2023 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria, which took place on June 24th, 2023, at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja.

The minimum scores for securing admission into universities in Nigeria have been set at 140 by JAMB. Similarly, the minimum cut-off marks for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education have also been fixed at 100 each.
