Digital currency Liberty Reserve has been shut down after U.S. and Costa Rican authorities arrested founder Arthur Belanchuk in Spain. Central American newspaper The Tico Times reports that Belanchuk was arrested Friday. Investigators say that Budovsky’s businesses in Costa Rica , including Liberty Reserve, were used to launder money for child pornography websites and drug trafficking.

JAMB releases results, withholds 12,110
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), yesterday said it was withholding the result of 12,110, candidates who sat for the paper and pencil test as well as the Dual Base Test in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), over examination malpractices. It said candidates who sat for the UTME, deployed new techniques to perpetrate examination malpractice.
Similarly, the results of another 68,309 candidates are to undergo further screening to ascertain their culpability, just as analysis has shown that a total of 40,692 candidates results were invalid due to either multiple shading or no shading at all. JAMB also disclosed that a total of 47,974 candidates were absent from the examination.
2013 UTME: Only 520,000 will get admission –FG
Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Rufa’i, yesterday said only 520,000, of the 1,735,720, candidates who sat for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are likely to gain admission into tertiary institutions in the country. This is because the entire universities in the country can only accommodate 520,000, candidates, meaning that the remaining 1.2million candidates may have to shelve their desire for higher education till further notice.
